2018 Auction FAQs


Q: What is the 2018 Auction?

A: The 2018 Auction is an event organized by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to raise money for the students of University Park Elementary School. The money we raise will go directly to hiring 2.5 classroom teachers to help maintain our low classroom sizes. It consists of a live, online, and silent auction. Our goal is to raise $75,000 this year.

Q: How do I donate or sponsor the 2018 Auction?

Q: When and where is the 2018 Auction?

A: The online auction will begin on Thursday, April 12, 2018 and end on Thursday, April 19, 2018. The live and silent auction will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 6:30PM to 10:30PM in the Gold Room at the University of Denver.

Q: How do I get to the Gold Room at the University of Denver?

A: The Gold Room is located in the Ritchie Center at the University of Denver. The address is 2240 Buchtel Boulevard, Denver, CO 80210. More information, including directions and where to park, will be communicated at a later date.

Q: What is the theme of the 2018 Auction?

A: The theme of the 2018 Auction is BBQ, Bluegrass, and Blue Jeans. Although it is not mandatory, we encourage guests to come dressed in their blue jeans, boots, cowboy hats, etc.

Q: Are children invited to the 2018 Auction?

A: Unfortunately, children are not invited to the 2018 Auction. This event is for adults only. However, children can participate in the fun during “Western Day.” Western Day will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Although it is not mandatory, children are encouraged to come dressed in their blue jeans, boots, cowboy hats, etc. A professional photographer will be at the school to take photographs of the children for the slideshow. The slideshow will be shown at the live and silent auction.

Q: How much are tickets to the 2018 Auction?

A: Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, March 1, 2018, and will cost $45 per person. The last day to purchase tickets at this price is Sunday, April 15, 2018. If you would like to purchase tickets at the door, the price will increase to $60 per person. The ticket price includes dinner and live music. There will also be a cash bar, games, and a photo booth. To purchase tickets or to participate in the bidding process, you will need to create a PTA Pal account.

Q: How do I set up a PTA Pal account?

A: To set up a PTA Pal account, please go to upark.ptapal.com. A credit card will be needed to set up your account, but it will only be charged if you purchase tickets or win an item. All notifications, including confirmations and receipts, will be sent to the email address provided. Each account will be assigned a bid number to bid on items.

Q: What items will be included in the live auction?

A: The live auction will include Principal for a Day, a reserved parking space for the 2018/2019 school year, a paddle raise, and much more.

Q: What items will be included in the silent auction?

A: The silent auction will include the Class Art Projects, Class Baskets, Kid/Teacher Experiences, Parent Experiences, and items such as art, handbags, jewelry, tickets to cultural and sporting events, and travel and hotel opportunities.

Q: Will the 2018 Auction include a Before and After Party?

A: Yes, the 2018 Auction will include a Before and After Party. The Before Party will be held at Asbury Provisions. The address is 2043 South University Boulevard, Denver, CO 80210. The After Party will be held at The Pioneer.  The address is 2401 South University Boulevard, Denver, CO 80210.  More information about the Before and After Party will be communicated at a later date.

Q: What are Kid/Teacher Experiences?

A: The Kid/Teacher Experiences are activities planned and organized by a UPark staff member. They allow kids to interact with a teacher outside of normal school hours. Examples include bowling, laser tag, and movie night. Availability is limited and on a first come first serve basis.

Q: What are Parent Experiences?

A: The Parent Experiences are activities hosted and sponsored by a UPark parent/family. Examples include bicycle tours, scavenger hunts, and themed parties. These experiences are extremely popular and a great way to meet other UPark parents and families. Availability is limited and on a first come first serve basis. Q: When can I pick up the item(s) I won at the 2018 Auction?

A: The items will be available for pick-up during the week of April 23, 2018. More information about where to pick up the items will be communicated at a later date.
